Come celebrate WLT’s newest acquisition: the Mountain Lake Preserve. This splendid parcel is the former site of a beloved summer camp which boasts beautiful views, spectacular rock formations and picturesque ponds and streams.

Treks will be offered for all ages and abilities; participants will have a choice of two guided hikes. The first option will be an out-and-back to the amphitheater, coupled with an out-and-back to Strait’s Pond, for a total of 1 ¾  miles. The second offering, including a steeper climb and more challenging terrain, will pass the amphitheater and continue on through scenic woodlands with mountain laurel stands and an impressive glacial erratic. This excursion will end at the Strait’s Pond out-and-back path for a total of 2 ¼ miles. Be sure to bring your water bottle and appropriate hiking shoes. We will provide the scenery and the trail mix cookies!

WLT received an Excellence in Conservation Award for permanently protecting two extraordinary properties: the 198-acre Tanner Farm and the 152-acre Mountain Lake Preserve from the Connecticut Land Conservation Council (CLCC), the statewide organization that advocates for and supports land trusts.
