COPEN CONSERVATION EASEMENT

The Copen family donated this 15-acre conservation easement to the Warren Land Trust in 2018. High on a hillside off of Curtiss Road, the wooded parcel is clearly visible from the Washington side of Lake Waramaug, making it an important part of the lake’s view-shed and a component of its appealing rural atmosphere. The easement is within the lake’s watershed, and the property itself features streams and vernal pools. In addition, the Copen easement is located within the Mohawk Forest block, which has been identified as an Important Bird Area by the Connecticut Audubon Society
