CT Trails Day Hike: Into the Woods

  • Valley Rd (end), Mattatuck Trail, off Rte. 341, near Rte. 202 Warren, CT, 06777 United States (map)

Come hike the Mattatuck Trail and WLT’s Graham Brush and Coords Preserves on CT Trails Day with the Warren Land Trust and the Lake Waramaug Association!

If you hiked this moderately challenging trail in the past, we promise new perspectives. And if you haven’t, come see what you’ve been missing! This bucolic 5-mile woodland loop takes you through beautiful and unspoiled forest, past lovely streams and a beaver pond lush with water lilies. There are also old stone walls, rock outcroppings and carpets of ferns and trees.
The hike encompasses portions of the Wyantenock State Forest with the blue-blazed Mattatuck Trail and two WLT Preserves, Graham Brush and Coords.
Some steep climbs and rocky terrain and streams to cross. Appropriate footwear suggested. Have repellant ready and don’t forget your water. Dogs who can go for 5 miles are welcome. Probably not ideal for young children.

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER

Hikers meet on Saturday, June 3rd at 10am at the Mattatuck State Forest entrance in Warren at the end of Valley Road, off of Rte. 341, near the intersection with Rte. 202. There is no formal parking lot. Plenty of parking along the side of the road and by the chain link fence.
